Great workshop! The boys in the Lafayette based Voodoo Combatives Group we a pleasure to work with as always. We did some rather hard stick fighting, knife sparring and associated drills. Great job Lafayette!.

All had a good time at the first official CQC Unlimited workshop for the Voodoo Combatives Group down in Lafayette Louisiana. Things started off with Training Group Leader Mike Norris running the workshop perticapants through a warm up then onto some agility drills and other physical training to get everyones juices flowing. After Mike had the group doing some flow drills I steped in to go over some details and focus points in the drills. Then we moved on to boxing and outside fighting skills from phase 1 & 2 as well as the first couple entry line and some closing concepts off of those lines. Then we continued into the clinch and close quarters head control and a whole lot of getting dirty. I had a great time and look forward to future workshops.

Pencak Silat Gadjah Putih Jati Wisesa
February 2009 thru April 2009
Over the past couple of months I have been traveling to Vancouver B.C. to take a crash course in the 25 Jurus Jurus of Pencak Silat Gadjah Putih Jati Wisesa. It was no simple task for Guru Loki to attempt (25 Jurus Jurus in 8 weeks) and was very intense for those who took up the challenge.
We started the first session off with some basic standing postures, rooting, hand positions and punching, and then right to the meat of it... Jurus Satu (1) aptly named "Jurus". Aside from the Jurus Jurus we learned a few Pernafasan (which are on a simple level breathing exersises) along the way as well as some other breathing meditation work. We finished with Jurus Dua Puluh Lima (25) on the second to last session and worked on details and polishing for the last session. I had a great time and learned a lot. This min-course as Guru Loki refers to it is was one I will remember forever and will hold the Jurus Jurus of Pencak Silat Gadjah Putih Jati Wisesa in special regard because of the experience.

Grand Tuhan Leo T. Gaje, jr. Two Day Seminar

The Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje, jr. seminar was a blast. We spent 2 days, 5 hours a day putting in an uncountable amount of repetitions on just a handful of principle base movements. GT Gaje was in great form and full of humor as well as tone of seriousness. It is always a pleasure to hear GT Gaje speak. His passion comes through and makes everyone want to train harder and be better.

The Maelstrom Martial arts people were very kind and put on a great event. If you're in the Vancouver area, I would recommend stopping by and visiting Guru Loki and his group. He is a great guy with a lot to share.
